Waiting: A Visual Poem is emblematic of the times I've sat in coffee shops or restaurants waiting for service, for a friend to arrive or a meeting to begin inspired this poem about what goes through one's mind while in stasis. The tiny waiter was inspired by the drawings of Aubrey Beardsley and by the waiters I enjoyed watching as they served strong German beer, steaming coffee, fresh rye bread and sauerkraut in the downtown Chicago landmark Berghoff's Restaurant.
