In the early 1980's, I had the fanciful idea to sign my works with my thumbprint for authenticity? I don't remember anymore, but I do recall that at some point I became weary of scrubbing stamp pad ink from the grooves of my thumb and decided to have a rubber stamp made with my thumb's impression. 'The Pleasures of the Senses' is simply a visual meditation on the potential loss of authenticity in the service of mass production. The quotation is a Spanish proverb that seems to understand...
